Playing as a fax responder your main goal is to '''enhance the roleplay of those in round''', not enforce your own story onto the round - a lot of people will choose to roll CL or Correspondent with a idea prior in how they wish to roleplay during the round and more often than not, being told to do otherwise of what they originally had planned can be a bit jarring and annoying on the receiving end.

== Expectations ==
It is fine to set tasks or missions '''(examples blow, please look)''', but make sure you probe first if the player is willing to do so.
You are expected to maintain professionalism at all times. This role is not to be taken lightly. While you may find yourself with fewer tasks than during a typical round, your actions and decisions can have significant consequences, and you must remain mindful of that.

A strong knowledge of the English language, especially spelling, punctuation, and grammar is essential. It would be unacceptable for UNMC High Command or any other faction to send out a fax that reads as though it were scribbled in crayon by a toddler.
'''You are epiphenomenal to the round, you by no means influence the outcome or decisions of the round''' - pay extreme care to semantics and semiotics, players can frequently misinterpret what you say (and sometimes self antag).
Rule of thumb, if you aren't familiar with the person you are faxing, make sure to be very precise and really spell it out what you're trying to convey.

=== Do: ===
* Alert staff to anything that you think could possibly require staff oversight, such as CO arrest or potentional RP standard infractions.
* Keep all faxes professional and to the standard of who you are currently representing.
* Use the supplied document formats you have been given to ensure the experience is uniform with anyone interacting with the Responder Whitelist Roles.
* Completely embody the faction you represent, you can be a character in yourself with quirks, but you foremostly are of the faction.
* Contact the admin team if the possibility for any anything ambiguous or possibly tangent arises for possible RP scenarios.

=== Don't: ===
* NEVER use your radio to transmit under any circumstances.
* Call anyone without an EXCEPTIONAL reason.
* Answer any call you're not expecting prior.
* Use your position to disrupt the round or cause players to antag.
* Authorize any sort of ERT deployment without consulting an admin first. (You need their help anyway)

If you’ve been approved, you may request access to the role by asking an admin through AHELP while you are a ghost. Either after observing or after dying during a round.
As a Fax Responder, you hold significant authority by the nature of your position. With that authority comes the expectation of responsible and measured decision-making.

This role is a privilege earned through professionalism, maturity, and a solid understanding of in-game mechanics and procedures. It is not something that can be demanded or begged for.
Be certain that anything you request or do, is never repetitive for purpose of enjoyment for anyone involved - this role welcomes creativity.

Fax Responders cannot make decisions that would drastically alter the round's flow, such as activating ERTs or overriding staff decisions without their input. Always use AHELP if you're unsure whether your action requires staff involvement.
You are to play to the RP strengths of players and work off the golden map:

Fax Responder

Your job is to answer faxes sent to your fax machine. You are answering on behalf of the RMC14 admin team and are therefore held to the highest standards. Failure to adhere to expectations or failing to follow these guidelines may result in no longer being allowed to play the role, or in extreme scenarios, a direct server ban. Non-staff players of this role are not able to authorize ERTs through their faxes.

You are to also use a character in these roles that is only used for responding.

Rules and Expectations of Responders

Remember foremost, you are a Fax RESPONDER, it is fine to probe a bit to let a player know you're there, or if you notice an interesting angle, but operate mostly on a "Yes, therefore" basis. (Some better examples will be below under "What can I do?")

THIS IS ALSO NOT A VERY ACTIVE ROLE, DON'T EXPECT TO BE REGULARLY FAXING MULTIPLE DEPARTMENTS, THAT IS NOT YOUR PURPOSE.

Playing as a fax responder your main goal is to enhance the roleplay of those in round, not enforce your own story onto the round - a lot of people will choose to roll CL or Correspondent with a idea prior in how they wish to roleplay during the round and more often than not, being told to do otherwise of what they originally had planned can be a bit jarring and annoying on the receiving end.

It is fine to set tasks or missions (examples blow, please look), but make sure you probe first if the player is willing to do so.

You are epiphenomenal to the round, you by no means influence the outcome or decisions of the round - pay extreme care to semantics and semiotics, players can frequently misinterpret what you say (and sometimes self antag). Rule of thumb, if you aren't familiar with the person you are faxing, make sure to be very precise and really spell it out what you're trying to convey.

Do:

  • Alert staff to anything that you think could possibly require staff oversight, such as CO arrest or potentional RP standard infractions.
  • Keep all faxes professional and to the standard of who you are currently representing.
  • Use the supplied document formats you have been given to ensure the experience is uniform with anyone interacting with the Responder Whitelist Roles.
  • Completely embody the faction you represent, you can be a character in yourself with quirks, but you foremostly are of the faction.
  • Contact the admin team if the possibility for any anything ambiguous or possibly tangent arises for possible RP scenarios.

Don't:

  • NEVER use your radio to transmit under any circumstances.
  • Call anyone without an EXCEPTIONAL reason.
  • Answer any call you're not expecting prior.
  • Use your position to disrupt the round or cause players to antag.
  • Authorize any sort of ERT deployment without consulting an admin first. (You need their help anyway)

Access to the Role

Anyone with 75+ hours in Corporate liaison has access. Abuse of the role or not following the rules laid out will result in immediate roleban. If in doubt, please contact an admin.

Fax Responding requires players who consistently demonstrate high-quality roleplay and a mastery of spelling, grammar, and formatting.

What Can I Do?

As a Fax Responder, you hold significant authority by the nature of your position. With that authority comes the expectation of responsible and measured decision-making.

Be certain that anything you request or do, is never repetitive for purpose of enjoyment for anyone involved - this role welcomes creativity.

You are to play to the RP strengths of players and work off the golden map:

  • Establish contact with related parties / get sent a fax to respond to.
  • Establish what scenario is at play.
  • Therefore the player or you decide an action must be taken.
  • But, whatever action taken there is also a caveat.
  • Therefore, a pivot in approach is needed, or an escalation in severity of the story
  • ... And so on.

Below is a non-exhaustive list of actions you may take:

General Guidelines

  • Respond to relevant faxes addressed to your faction.
  • Coordinate with other fax responders if a message is misdirected.
  • Roleplay with other fax responders via phone or fax.
  • Decide whether to report suspicious activity to UNMC Command, based on your faction's interests.
  • Unless informed otherwise, assume individuals attempting to betray the UNMC are not staff-approved, such actions should generally be discouraged.
  • Request and respond to operational status reports from relevant faction personnel.

Available Faxes

  • Request NDAs from involved parties.

  • Provide them with remote legal support if needed.
