| FORECON is expected to maintain the ability to covertly operate and pursue their objectives, even when unable to contact and coordinate with [[Marines|UNMC]] [[High Command]]. Due to tensions between the [[United Nations]] and [[Socialist Progressive Peoples (SPP)|Socialist Progressive Peoples]], FORECON's relative independence has been a significant asset to gathering intelligence on their rival nation, in the hopes of gaining an advantage if war were to ever break out. Recent [[Colony Liberation Front (CLF)|CLF]] activities have also led to FORECON being deployed to remote locations in order to either gather intelligence on a cell's capabilities, prepare for a larger marine detachment, or even conducting raids on smaller-scale cells.

| During large-scale operations, Force Reconnaissance units report directly to the [[Marines|UNMC]] [[High Command]], and provide deep reconnaissance and direct action support. FORECON is guided by a Commander, who is a highly skilled military operative that will often deploy alongside the main unit. Below them is the Squad Leader, responsible for ensuring that the team meets the orders issued by the Commander, as well as taking command if the Commander is ever unable to lead.

| FORECON was formed shortly after the [[Marines|United Nations Marine Corps]] was established, as a means of increasing the newborn United Nation’s military intelligence and reconnaissance capabilities. FORECON units would see deployment during [[The Orthis War]], but would eventually see budget cuts following the end of [[Operation Justice]], due to the uneasy peace left in it's wake.

| During this period, FORECON would be kept occupied primarily with gathering information on the activities of the [[Socialist Progressive Peoples (SPP)|SPP]]. However, due to the reduced budget, they were hampered, and only able to gain basic information about fleet movements, troop activity, and SPP bases.

The lack of reliable intelligence and reconnaissance had led to the deaths of thousands, and had led to [[High Command]] realizing the need for a capable, well-funded military recon and surveilling force, capable of not only assessing battlefield conditions, but also conducting covert raids against insurgent cells which had begun to crop up. FORECON would receive not only increased funding, but also better equipment, preparing them for conflict against the newly formed [[Colony Liberation Front (CLF)|CLF]], the SPP, and other groups which would threaten the [[United Nations|United Nations’]] territories.

Cut off and under attack by a hostile alien force, their situation is grim.
