The Artificial Womb Soldier Program was a military program developed by Weston-Yamada to bolster the ranks of the United Nations Marine Corps.

All soldiers in the Artificial Womb Soldier Program are grown in synthetic wombs and raised in a communal military environment that teaches them everything they need to know to be a Marine. To avoid any unintentional mix-ups, each artificial womb soldier's legal name is marked with the middle initials "A.W." and has the surname of a weapon made before 1970, as well as a normal first name.
