| In the wake of unprecedented losses during an intense conflict, Socialist Progressive Peoples (SPP) High Command permitted an emergency evacuation of scattered, under-resourced units from the Sol sector. Seizing an opportunity, the SPP organized a convoy to pull their forces back through the volatile, stormy regions near the Sol colonies, hoping the interference from an approaching ion storm would mask their movements.

| On April 17, a UN patrol intercepted the convoy just outside the storm's edge, detecting the transport vessels carrying high-value SPP personnel and equipment. The UNMC quickly mobilized, deploying a small strike force to intercept and capture the convoy. The skirmish quickly escalated as both sides called in reinforcements, leading to a cascade of reinforcements flooding the area. The ion storm created confusion on both sides, jamming long-range communications and forcing ships to rely on close-quarter ship-to-ship engagements, often at dangerously close range.

| In the midst of the chaos, the UNS Vanguard, the UN’s flagship, arrived on scene, along with several squads of UNMC marines trained in zero-gravity combat. Tasked with boarding SPP ships under intense fire, the marines executed rapid breaching maneuvers to disable key enemy vessels from within, aiming to capture intel and high-ranking SPP personnel. However, the sheer scale of reinforcements, combined with the ion storm’s impact, turned the battle into a chaotic “furball” of ships and fighters engaged in brutal close-quarters combat.

| As both sides sustained heavy casualties and equipment losses, it became clear that neither could afford the escalating costs. Recognizing the stalemate and immense losses, the UN and SPP initiated a ceasefire soon after, marking the end of the active conflict and the beginning of their tense cold war.
