The Commandant of the Marine Corps

To All United Nations Marine Corps Personnel:

The events of October 28th, 2124, during Operation #1767 "Program November-Quebec", now designated Operation Valiant Fall, will be remembered as a testament to the courage, resolve, and adaptability of the United Nations Marine Corps in the face of an unprecedented crisis.

The operation commenced with the UNS Nova dispatched to one of our colonies, which was under attack by Xenonids of unknown origin. These Xenonids had infiltrated and overrun this colony, and immediate action was necessary to neutralize the threat and ensure the safety of the civilians residing there.

However, a sudden and unprovoked attack by an unidentified SPP vessel altered the course of the operation. Without warning, the SPP ship opened fire on the UNS Nova, striking its bow and causing catastrophic damage to its astro-navigation systems. This left the warship crippled, its course now uncontrollable and set to crash directly into the planet.

In response, General Quarters was called, and the crew of the UNS Nova, with exceptional discipline, immediately returned fire with the warship’s railguns. The SPP vessel was destroyed by the Nova's fire.

Faced with the loss of control and the need to make an emergency landing, the operation was re-designated as Operation Valiant Fall. The priority became clear: secure and clear the colony of any threats, ensuring that the UNS Nova could land safely instead of crashing. This would be no small task.

Upon arrival at the colony, the Marines encountered two surviving squads of SPP combat personnel, who had staged an ambush against our forces. The situation quickly escalated into a three-way conflict between the Marines, the SPP soldiers, and the Xenonids. While we successfully eliminated the SPP combatants, some were captured and returned to the UNS Nova as prisoners of war.

The xenonid numbers, however, were overwhelming. Despite our best efforts, we were forced to retreat back to the warship to regroup. During this chaotic withdrawal, several Xenonids were inadvertently brought aboard the Nova by a botched evacuation on the dropship, creating a deadly infestation. This led to an intense battle aboard the ship, where many of our personnel lost their lives trying to secure the warship.

Unfortunately, the crisis continued to escalate. A UNMC scout specialist inadvertently piloted a dropship, containing a group of Xenonids, to the warship. They had intended to send it away from the marines, but instead, this ship also landed on the Nova, resulting in another deadly skirmish where more lives were lost, and all of our prisoners of war perished in the process.

Amid the chaos, evacuation pods and lifeboats became the last hope for those who survived. Many Marines were able to escape and some had also crash-landed on the planet due to improper fueling, where they secured a defensive position and were rescued by a MARSOC response team after receiving the distress signal from the Nova.

MARSOC immediately assisted in clearing the remaining xenonid presence on the colony, securing what was left of the area.

Sadly, the UNS Nova, severely damaged and beyond repair, ultimately crashed into the colony. The ship is now decommissioned, a tragic loss but a necessary sacrifice in the service of our mission.

In the aftermath of this tragic event, efforts to contact the SPP government and understand the reasoning behind their unprovoked attack on the UNS Nova have thus far yielded no results. The reasons behind the attack remain unknown, and the SPP’s silence raises more questions than answers.

I must now address the state of our forces. The cold war between the United Nations and the Socialist Progressive Peoples continues to simmer, and there are signs that we may encounter more SPP forces within our space in the near future. We must remain vigilant. Our Marines should be prepared for further skirmishes and potential engagements, but always remain calm and focused.

In the coming days, we will begin scouting for new Majors to be assigned as Commanding Officers, individuals who will bring strength, courage, and leadership to the forefront of our forces.

We will also be looking for experienced enlisted personnel to serve as senior enlisted advisors to guide and train our new recruits, ensuring that the next generation of Marines is ready for whatever comes our way.

The United Nations will continue to protect its citizens and its sovereignty against all threats, foreign and domestic. We will adapt, and we will endure.

As we face these rising tensions with the SPP, we must remember that despite our differences, we are all soldiers. The soldiers of the SPP are not our enemies by nature but by ideology, and we must adhere to the laws protecting the rights of all sapient life, even as we stand firm in our mission.

Finally, I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you who has served with honor. The doctors who saved lives, the military police who maintained order and security, the pilots who support and transport our forces, the engineers who kept our warships operational, the supply personnel who ensured we had what we needed in the heat of battle, and the marines who bravely fought on the front lines — you are all the backbone of this Corps.

And to those who made the ultimate sacrifice — our friends, our family, our brothers and sisters in arms — their bravery and their lives will never be forgotten. Their sacrifices are what allow us to continue the fight for the future of the United Nations and its people.

Onward, Marines. The fight is not over, and our mission continues.

For Unity and Prosperity.

For the UN.
