Weston-Yamada
Weston-Yamada is one of the wealthiest and most influential corporations in known space, known for its relentless pursuit of profit through cutting-edge technology, space exploration, bioengineering, and defense manufacturing. Weston-Yamada was formed during the merger of the Japenese Yamada Corporation and American Weston Corporation. The company has grown into the largest corporate monopoly in known space. Weston-Yamada is deeply embedded within almost every industry.
Partnership with the United Nations
Weston-Yamada has gained a powerful and sometimes uneasy partnership with the United Nations, allowing the corporation to secure almost all government contracts, influence policy, and embed its influence within almost every part of life within the UN. The UN benefits from Weston-Yamada’s cutting-edge research, logistical support, and defense manufacturing, though this dependency has drawn criticism from political and military leaders alike.
The corporation’s influence extends to the United Nations Marine Corps as well, which often operates with Weston-Yamada personnel onboard. Corporate Liaisons are deployed to military ships and installations under the pretext of "supporting operations," but their true purpose is often to gather intelligence, ensure corporate interests are upheld, and, at times, direct missions toward outcomes favorable to Weston-Yamada.
Notably, Weston-Yamada has provided the resources and technology for the development of the UNMC's Artificial Womb Soldier Program.
While the official relationship between Weston-Yamada and the United Nations is said to be a mutually beneficial partnership, it is clear to many within the United Nations that the corporation’s primary focus lies in maximizing profit, with any assistance to the UN being a secondary concern.
Research on Extraterrestrial Life
Weston-Yamada has taken a large interest in many Xenos creatures, particularly the Xenoids. The corporation is driven by the belief that such lifeforms hold immense potential for military and economic applications. In pursuit of this goal, Weston-Yamada has been known to authorize dangerous field experiments, capturing and studying these creatures. These experiments are kept tightly under wraps, with information restricted to select corporate personnel.
Corporate Liaison and Private Military Contractors
The corporation’s influence is most visible aboard the Almayer through its Corporate Liaison. The Liaison is responsible for ensuring that Weston-Yamada’s interests are upheld in all operations, acting as a intermediary between the corporation and the UNMC.
Private Military Contractors are sometimes deployed during emergencies to secure high-value assets or as Emergency Response Teams. Their objectives may diverge from that of the United Nations depending on the situation and orders they are given.
With the exception of the Corporate Liaison and their ERT, all Weston-Yamada roles are currently reserved for admin events.
