Anchor Station
Located at a key junction within Zephyron, Anchor Station is the single largest space-station in the sector. While technically owned and operated by the Interstellar Commerce Bureau, all three major superpowers operate embassies on the station, with the UN maintaining a substantial force of Colony Marshals, as well as a force of marines to support the CMB. Corporations such as Weston-Yamada, Novaris Industries, Halcyon, Avant Biomedical, & AEGIS Armaments have regional offices present, and it’s quite common to see ships belonging to one of the companies leaving port.
Anchor Station serves an important role for the sector; it serves as a vital refueling station, transit hub, jumping-off point for colonization ships, cargo port, refinery, rest stop, and layover location, which has caused its population to expand massively in the years since its establishment.
The Altalune Drift
Despite the density of stars in Zephyron, one area remains an anomaly; located in the farthest extent of the Sector, the Altalune Drift, occasionally referred to by astronomers as the Altalune Void, is a region where the density of stars is far below the universal average. Only a handful of planets lie within this area, and of those only a sparse few have colony operations. These colonies are highly-isolated, making them undesirable places to be stationed, with each colony relying on a slow flow of outside trade, or infrastructure designed to make them self-sufficient.

The Zephyron Sector is an incredibly active sector of space, having points of interest for multiple key companies and governments. With multiple young(er) colonies located within, those with talents in agriculture, administration, engineering, etc. are in high demand to ensure these colonies can operate properly, leading to frequent immigration and expansion. Despite its location being on the frontier of known space, analysts from various Governments, Corporations, and Interstellar Organizations have assessed that it may quickly become a vital sector for future growth.

History

Despite claims by various groups, no single party can be accredited for the discovery of Zephyron, as it had been found by various different astronomers approximately around the same time. These scientists found that the Sector had a higher than average density of stars, as well as substantial quantities of planetary bodies and asteroid belts. Recognizing the opportunity for habitable worlds and valuable resources, many Governments and Corporations leapt at the opportunity to stake their claim and catch their “big break”.

Initial expansion, while quick, would face difficulties as unclear claims and rivalries would leak to border disputes. These disagreements led to increased tensions between the Socialist Progressive Peoples and the United Nations, which necessitated the creation of a Demilitarized zone along their borders. While patrols were allowed on their respective sides, the movement of military vessels into the DMZ, or organization of large-scale fleets on the border, would be prevented, permitting both parties to still support their colonies.

Despite the quick growth of Zephyron, it still remains a difficult place to live. Many colonies suffer from harsh living conditions, with colonists eking out a humble existence despite threats posed from different animals, environments, or manmade threats. The frequent activity of the sector has made it a lucrative target for pirates, while Nations, Corporations, and rebel groups all compete for preeminence. The matter of the DMZ remains hotly contested, with both the SPP and UN claiming occasional ownership of the worlds within.

Present Powers

United Nations

The United Nations is one of the foremost groups in the Zephyron Sector. Due to the activity, as well as their own holdings within the Sector, it’s not uncommon for UNMC Warships to be seen patrolling the sector, dissuading SPP incursions and fighting cells of the Colony Liberation Front. The UN has also worked to establish additional stations and refueling depots to support activities in the sector. Furthermore, the Colony Marshal Bureau has worked to expand their capabilities within the sector, keeping law and order on a dangerous frontier.

Three Suns Empire

Within Zephyron, the Three-Suns Empire has been focused on slow, measured expansion, allowing them to work on creating well-established, wealthy colonies within their area of control. The TSE has made tentative agreements with the United Nations to share information regarding the various star-systems and the planets within Zephyron. Due to the value of their holdings, the TSE has seen fit to deploy many Royal Crown Marine regiments to the sector.

Socialist Progressive Peoples

To the Socialist Progressive Peoples, Zephyron represents a valuable opportunity for growth and the exportation of their ideology. Many SPP colonies have been established by the Ministry of Space Colonization at a rapid pace. Each of these worlds represents a chance for the SPP to get one over their rival powers, and are protected by the SPP’s Naval Infantry. Due to the quick expansion, life on these SPP colonies can be difficult, as many relatively inhospitable worlds are still selected for construction of new outposts.

Weston-Yamada

The Weston-Yamada Corporation is one of the largest colony operators within the Zephyron Sector. Although many of these worlds fall within UN or TSE jurisdiction, WEYA maintains de-facto control of these territories, with the only evidence of Government involvement being the policing force, the laws they enforce, and the nationality of its civilians. For the Company, Zephyron offers a distinct chance for growth; mining operations, administrative centers, logistical nodes, and research facilities are all common, as Weston-Yamada seeks to expand and become even more wealthy, much to the chagrin of their rivals.

Interstellar Commerce Bureau

Due to the high degree of business-related activity within the sector, the Interstellar Commerce Bureau has become a prominent organization in Zephyron. Clamping down on smuggling, contraband, and unlawful business practices, while enforcing trade regulations and interstellar standards, their Liaisons and Auditors are often seen around the sector at major ports and colonies.
